I would highly recommend giving Cape Coral a try, and make sure you hire a boat as all villas are located on the water way and have their own docks. Visit RumRunners. We stayed at their beautiful villa on Highlands Reserve with our two daughters several years ago and during a quiet relaxing moment taking in the sunshine (there were many of those!) we glanced through their brilliant Guest Welcome Folder on the coffee table. The directory was full of really useful “things to do” and places to eat. It was in there we found the listing of the famed eatery which we remembered had been much talked about! Manny’s is about 15 miles south of Highlands Reserve on the main US Highway 27. It is very popular with the locals and consequently gets very busy. However, a gem of a tip we found in their Directory was to phone the restaurant about 40 minutes ahead and tell the restaurant that we were just leaving the parks. They obligingly booked us a table and 40 minutes later we arrived with our mouths watering and stomachs aching with hunger and we were promptly shown to our table by our waitress ahead of a rather long queue of equally ravenous tourists. As they say… it’s not what you know but who you know who knows!! We were definitely not disappointed and the steaks were to die for. Had I finished the 24oz T-Bone I may just have done that (but I didn’t leave much). As well as American sized portions, the food is equally matched by the superb quality and amazing prices. Simply the best steaks we have ever tasted anywhere and, in case you were wondering healthy with plentiful salad and dressing!! We cannot recommend this enough and a big thank you to Donna and Simon for enriching our Florida experience.
